The Virginia Tech Hokies have been homebodies their last three games, but they are heading out on Saturday. Virginia Tech and the #6 Duke Blue Devils will face off in an ACC battle at 8 p.m. ET Saturday at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Coming off of a loss in a game they were expected to win, the Hokies now face the more daunting task of proving themselves against unfavorable odds.

Virginia Tech came up short against the Miami Hurricanes on Wednesday, falling 102-95. Guard Tyrece Radford put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted a double-double on 26 points and ten boards.

Duke has played poorly offensively, averaging 9.5 points per game. They are averaging 104.5 rushing yards and 238 passing yards per game. Chase Brice, who backed up Trevor Lawrence at Clemson the past two seasons, has completed only 54.4 percent of his passes for 476 yards, zero touchdowns, and two interceptions. Deon Jackson has rushed for 126 yards on 30 carries, while Noah Gray leads the team with 129 receiving yards.

Defensively, the Blue Devils also haven’t played well, giving up 26.5 points per game. They will need a significantly better performance on the defensive end if they want to beat the Cavs. The Cavaliers have dominated this rivalry in recent years, winning the last five games between the two teams. They will try to make it six wins in a row over the Blue Devils when they play on Saturday.

Virginia played well offensively last season, averaging 32.1 points per game. They lost Bryce Perkins, their leading passer and rusher from last season, and will turn to redshirt sophomore quarterback Brennan Armstrong to lead them this season. Armstrong completed 17 of 25 passes for 258 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in 11 appearances over the past two seasons.
